A patient’s General practitioner is often the medical specialist diagnosing and / or explaining the diagnosis of breast cancer irrespective of whether it is a symptomatic or screen detected cancer. General practitioners often then direct the referral to the appropriate multidisciplinary care team and share ongoing care. General practitioner should be aware of the expanding range of options available for patients to facilitate the best oncological and aesthetic outcomes.
