Biography

A/Prof Andrew Burns is a Melbourne-based cardiologist providing expertise in the most up-to date interventional and echocardiology to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Andrew completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in Oxford, UK and then graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne for his medical degree. He went on to complete advanced training in cardiology, a Doctor of Medicine and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship.

His current clinical commitments include cardiac catheterisation and percutaneous coronary intervention, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography at St Vincent's Public and Private Hospitals.

Andrew is also a co-supervisor of higher degree students whose projects examine the use of sildenafil as a pulmonary vasodilator in pulmonary hypertension and a co-investigator on a number of multicentre trials of novel coronary stent technologies.
