Orthopaedics ACL Surgery

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne’s Orthopaedics team is renowned for our exceptional skills, experience, and patient-centred approach.

What’s ACL repair surgery?

ACL repair surgery is a procedure that repairs a torn or ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee. ACL tears most frequently occur during periods of intense sporting activity. Generally, surgery will involve replacing the damaged ligament using a graft, commonly from the patient's own tissue or from a donor. The aim is to restore stability and function to the knee joint, allowing patients to return to physical activity and everyday mobility.
