Online Admissions

About the Online Admissions Portal

The St Vincent’s Private Hospital (including Mater Hospital Sydney) Patient Portal is a safe and secure online portal that lets you do everything in one place. It will help you to provide your personal details, share your medical history, complete financial consent forms, and make payments quickly and safely.

Step 1: Registering for your admission

Please watch this short video on how to register your hospital visit online

How online admissions work

  • When you enter the online portal, you will be guided step-by-step to complete the Admission Form and Health History Form
  • Please complete both forms at least 5 days before your admission date (if possible).

  • Filling in these forms early helps us prepare for your stay. It allows you to manage your hospital admission online, communicate with us easily, and saves your details for any future visits.
  • Once you’ve finished, we’ll send you a confirmation email to let you know we’ve received your pre‑admission information.

How long it takes

Depending on your medical history, registration can take approximately 15 to 45 minutes

What you'll need before you start

To complete your Online Admission, you will need access to your mobile phone and email address, as well as the following information:

Your current Medicare, pension or pharmacy benefit card details.

Your private health insurance, DVA or work cover details.

Your list of medications both prescribed and supplementary, the strength, dose and the reason for taking.

Your personal and next of kin details, your medical and surgical history and enduring guardian and/or advanced care directive information.

Step 2: Paying for your hospital admission

An online payment option will be available for patients in NSW from 4 March 2026, and for patients in Queensland and Victoria from April 2026.

If you are a patient in NSW

After you have completed your online admission forms, our staff will review your information and advise you of any out-of-pocket costs that you are required to pay prior to admission.

You will receive an email notifying you that an Informed Financial Consent (IFC) is waiting in the admissions portal for you to review and sign prior to making payment. Your IFC outlines an estimate of your hospital fees based on the treatment details provided by your doctor and the information we have about your private health insurance (if applicable).

Once you have signed your IFC, you will be asked to make your preadmission payment within the admissions portal. We accept payment by credit card or debit card. A 1.5% surcharge applies to credit card payments. There is no surcharge for debit card payments.

We recommend making your preadmission payment online to reduce any delays once you arrive at the hospital. However, you may pay at the hospital on the day of surgery.

What you’ll need

  • When you enter the portal, you will be guided to read and sign your Informed Financial Consent (IFC)
  • You will need your mobile phone to issue your digital signature (this process is explained in the portal)
  • You will also need your credit or debit card details to make your admission payment.

If you are a patient in Queensland or Victoria

The online payment option will be available from April 2026. Until then, please follow the payment instructions from your hospital.
