Biography

Clinical Associate Professor Michael Cooper is a gynaecologist with an interest in endometriosis, particularly complex cases that require advanced surgical or assisted conception techniques (IVF). He has recently started utilising the Da Vinci robot for many of these patients.

Michael graduated from the University of Sydney and received his Fellowship qualification in 1995.

He initiated one of the early endoscopic training centres for gynaecologists in Australia, and is regularly involved in workshops training doctors and students. He has been an advisor to the World Health Organisation on research and training in gynaecological endoscopic surgery. He received an Order of Australia Medal in 2018 for services to gynaecology.

Michael has authored over 50 articles and book chapters and has spoken widely within Australia and overseas. He has been an invited surgeon to many hospitals in Australia and Asia and currently operates in Hong Kong on an occasional basis.

Better and fairer care. Always.

In a rapidly transforming world, St Vincent's has created a refreshed vision and strategy to help shape Australia's health and aged care future.
