Biography

A/Prof Michael Coote is a Melbourne-based ophthalmologist who uses cutting edge technology and techniques to treat people with serious eye diseases, such as glaucoma and cataracts and trauma-related injuries.

A/Prof Coote is eminently experienced and qualified in the treatment and management of all eye conditions, while having a special interest in glaucoma and cataracts.

Michael is the managing partner of Melbourne Eye Specialists — specialising in glaucoma management. He is also a Board Director of St Vincent's Health, Australia. He chairs the board sub-committee in research and education and is a member of the board quality committee. Michael was previously the Clinical Director of Ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne.

He is an active glaucoma surgery researcher and has developed a model of bleb porosity testing and has published 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, authored 8 book chapters and has given over 50 international lectures.
