Biography

Dr Adam Ofri is a Specialist Breast Oncology and General Surgeon at Mater Hospital, North Sydney.

He completed surgical training through the Northern Network in Sydney and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He subsequently completed two years of post-fellowship breast surgery training at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, NSW, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, WA, attaining Full Member status with BreastSurgANZ. Through this training, he gained extensive experience in both benign and malignant breast disease, with advanced training in oncoplastic breast surgery.

Adam has a strong academic and research focus. He holds a Master of Surgery and an Advanced Master of Breast Surgery, and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Sydney and a Clinical Research Fellow at the Academic Institute of Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He was awarded the Breast Cancer Trials Clinical Research Fellowship in both 2023 and 2024, received the John Collins Fellow Medal, and has contributed to multiple national and international presentations and publications.

His clinical and research interests centre on personalised, contemporary breast cancer care. He is particularly focused on de-escalating breast cancer treatment where safe, reducing unnecessary morbidity, and improving patient-centred outcomes. He is the Primary Investigator for the ANZ Targeted Axillary Dissection Registry and the DCISionRT randomised controlled trial, both of which aim to refine treatment selection and reduce overtreatment.

Adam also has a strong interest in preventative care, including breast cancer risk assessment, tailored breast screening, and genetic mainstreaming. Surgically, he focuses on breast-conserving surgery and advanced oncoplastic techniques, aiming to achieve both excellent cancer outcomes and high-quality cosmetic results.
