Biography
Dr Ashraf Dower is an Australian-trained neurosurgeon with international fellowship training in minimally invasive spinal surgery from the University of Miami Hospital in the United States. He has a special interest in advanced spinal techniques, including endoscopic fusion and complex degenerative surgery.
Dr Dower also practices as a general neurosurgeon and manages a range of cranial conditions and tumours. Dr Dower currently consults and operates at several locations across Sydney, including in Wollstonecraft, Penrith and Westmead.He completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours Class I) and Doctor of Medicine from the University of New South Wales and undertook his neurosurgical training across several leading institutions in Australia and New Zealand, including Liverpool, Nepean, St George and Westmead Hospitals, and Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, NZ. He was awarded a Master of Surgery (Neurosurgery) at the University of Sydney in 2017 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2024.
Dr Dower completed a 12-month advanced spinal fellowship at the University of Miami under the mentorship of internationally renowned spine surgeon Dr Michael Wang. He continues to incorporate these cutting-edge techniques into his Australian practice, with a strong commitment to research, surgical innovation, and high-quality patient care.
