Biography
Dr Bill Petrellis is a highly qualified heart specialist. He specialises in irregular heart rhythms and has a particular interest in how devices can help treat such conditions.
Dr Bill Petrellis is a cardiac electrophysiologist and general adult cardiologist. He focuses on all disorders of the heart through a range of treatment options and specialises in arrhythmia management. Bill is an expert in performing ablation of cardiac arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation and device implantation.Awarded his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Melbourne in 1996, Bill then completed advanced training in cardiology at the Austin Hospital, Melbourne followed by a 2-year clinical fellowship of electrophysiology and arrhythmia management in Canada.
He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2005 and was subsequently appointed as a consultant electrophysiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto as well as a clinical teacher with the University of Toronto.
Bill was a locum staff specialist for cardiac device implantation at Wollongong Hospital in 2008, and a locum staff specialist of electrophysiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 2009-10. He has been retained as a medical expert to provide advice on the rollout of automated external defibrillators in the public transport sector. Passionate about regional healthcare, he attends outreach cardiac device clinics in Dubbo and Orange (NSW).
