Biography

Dr Deepinder Miller is Head of the Department of Psychiatry at St Vincent’s Clinic and St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Darlinghurst.

She is an adult generalist Psychiatrist and also treats older adolescent patients aged 15 and over. She specialises in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, the mental health of adolescents and young adults (aged 15-25), alcohol and drug treatment, couples counselling, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). 

Additionally, Dr Miller has significant experience in Medicolegal Report Writing, providing private assessments and reports for all of the major law firms and their clients nationally. These are focused on medical negligence claims, historical sexual abuse claims, dust exposure claims, personal injury claims (excl. WorkCover and Motor Vehicle Accidents), workplace bullying and harassment claims, and fitness for duty assessments.

She attained her medical degree from the University of Western Australia and completed her specialist training in Psychiatry at St Vincent’s Public Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Bloomfield Hospital and with Justice Health, based at Long Bay Gaol. She has undertaken further training in drug and alcohol treatment at the Betty Ford Center in California under their Professionals in Residence Programme. Dr Miller has attained Opioid Treatment Accreditation from the University of Sydney.

Dr Miller was the recipient of the New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry Special Training Fellowship 2008, recipient of the RANZCP Young Investigator of the Year Award 2008 and the recipient of the New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry Research Fellowship 2009. These awards related to her research conducted at the Garvan Institute exploring the impact of drugs and alcohol on psychosis in the presence of a defect in the neuregulin-1gene. Dr. Miller was formerly an expert panel member for the NSW Nursing and Midwifery Board and additionally holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Finance) from the University of New South Wales.
