Dr Julia Shrosbree is an endocrinologist who specialises in treating hormome-related conditions, particularly those that are caused by eating disorders. She has a special interest in osteoporosis and calcium disorders, irregular periods as well as obesity and weight management.

She has a particular interest in osteoporosis and calcium disorders, obesity and weight management, thyroid disorders, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, menopause and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Julia also has considerable experience managing the endocrinopathies associated with eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa) and other general endocrine diseases.
Julia graduated with a combined Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sydney, and completed her specialist training in endocrinology at St Vincent’s Hospital, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Prince of Wales Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Her training included a year of specialist training and research in bone and calcium disorders at the Garvan Institute of Medical research and St Vincent’s Hospital. Her final year at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital focused on the management of endocrine diseases that are associated with eating disorders.
In 2018, Julia was awarded her Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an endocrinologist. A member of multiple national and international societies (Australian Diabetes Society, Endocrine Society of Australia, Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society, Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society and the Endocrine Society of America), Julia regularly attends national and international meetings to ensure she provides patients with the most recent evidence-based care.
She has ongoing research at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Boden Institute of Obesity, Nutrition, Exercise and Eating Disorders where she is studying the aetiology and management of amenorrhoea and osteoporosis in the context of anorexia nervosa. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences.
