Biography

Dr Keith Zabell is a Toowoomba-based ophthalmologist with a particular focus on cataract surgery and other diseases affecting the front part of the eye. He also has a special interest in laser surgery.

Dr Keith Zabell is a Toowoomba-based ophthalmologist with a particular focus on cataract surgery and diseases affecting the front part (anterior segment) of the eye. He also has a special interest in laser surgery.

Keith graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland’s Medical School before going on to complete specialist training at both the Sydney Eye Hospital and the Bristol Eye Hospital in the UK.

Keith is a Senior Lecturer in ophthalmology at the University of Queensland’s Rural School of Medicine. He also lectures optometrists studying for the Diploma of Ocular Therapeutics at the Queensland University of Technology.

Outside of his private practice, Keith has participated in voluntary aid projects that brought much needed cataract surgery to villages in Myanmar.

Keith was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his services to medicine, particularly ophthalmology in the 2017 Australia Day Honours.
