Biography
Dr Simon Ghaly is a staff gastroenterology specialist and clinical lead of the inflammatory bowel disease service at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Dr Simon Ghaly graduated medicine with honours from the University of New South Wales. He completed his basic physician training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital before undertaking his specialist gastroenterology training at St George and St Vincent’s Hospitals.Simon then undertook a clinical and research fellowship at the Centre for Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Fremantle, where his research examined the role of vitamin D and ultraviolet radiation in altering the gut microbiome and immune system.
Simon is actively involved in educating future medical professionals as a Conjoint Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of New South Wales.
