Biography

Dr Soong-Yuan Ooi is a gastroenterologist with a clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease, colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Soong-Yuan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2003. He completed his basic physicians’ and advanced gastroenterology training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012.

During this time he also undertook a Graduate Certificate of Health Sciences in clinical education. Pursuing further training, he carried out an additional clinical research fellowship in IBD at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he focused on non-surgical strategies to optimise care for IBD patients, gaining experience in the treatment of complex IBD including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
