Biography

A/Prof Haris Haqqani is a highly-qualified senior cardiologist and electrophysiologist with a particular interest in arrhythmias, catheter ablation, pacemakers and defibrillators.

Haris graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1999 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with honours. After concluding his advanced cardiology and electrophysiology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, he completed a PhD investigating the mechanisms of ventricular tachycardia in heart failure at the University of Melbourne in 2009. Pursuing further training, he undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Haris is active in the academic and research community. He has co-authored more than 70 journal articles and 150 conference abstracts, and is routinely invited to speak at national and international scientific meetings. He currently holds the appointment of Associate Professor at the University of Queensland where he teaches the cardiologists of tomorrow.
