Dr Mei Hong Tan is an ophthalmologist who is fully trained in the diagnosis, management and surgical treatment of retinal diseases and has experience in uveitis and ocular oncology.

With over 15 years of experience in ophthalmology, Dr Tan is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of all retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, central serous chorioretinopathy, degenerative myopia, inflammatory retinopathies and inherited retinal diseases.

She is also an experienced cataract surgeon and frequently combines cataract surgery with retinal operations. Dr Tan completed her ophthalmology training in the UK at the Oxford Eye Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital. In 2012, she underwent fellowship training in medical retina and vitreo-retinal surgery.

She completed ophthalmology specialty training at the Oxford Eye Hospital and underwent further training in medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. This was followed by 2 years of vitreo-retinal surgery fellowships at the Royal Perth Hospital and Lions Eye Institute, Perth and Royal Adelaide Hospital. Dr Tan has numerous publications in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals.
