Biography

Mr Iain Skinner is a colorectal surgeon with a clinical interest in colorectal cancer, anorectal disorders, and colorectal polyps. He has expertise in performing colonoscopy, advanced polypectomy and laparoscopic colectomy.

Dr Iain Skinner is a consultant Colorectal surgeon, advanced colonoscopist, Director of Surgery and Acting Clinical services Director (Perioperative) at Werribee Mercy. Iain lives locally and consults in rooms near to St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee.

He has a special interest in the training and quality/governance of endoscopy. His colorectal subspecialty interests include:

· Colorectal cancer diagnosis and management
· Colonoscopy and advanced polypectomy
· Management of colorectal polyps
· Laparoscopic colectomy for benign and malignant disease
· Anorectal disorders
 
Iain is a member of the Surgical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Committee (SGEC) within the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE), the Conjoint Committee for Recertification of Colonoscopy (CCRC), chaired the committee that wrote the national Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standard (CCCS) and is currently working with Safer Care Victoria (SCV) facilitating and chairing a binational and multi-agency roundtable discussing the provision of colonoscopy services in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Mr Skinner has a reputation for being respectful and compassionate in treating people with complex and often difficult-to-discuss colorectal symptoms. Iain is one of only three specialist colorectal surgeons in Wyndham and he believes strongly in the community being able access high-quality specialist surgical services locally. He is dedicated to the training of the next generation of colorectal surgeons, and is a founding partner at Wyndham Colorectal.
