Biography

Mr Rodney Woods is a colorectal surgeon with extensive experience in surgery for the colon, rectum and anus. He ensures people fully understand their diagnosis and his suggested treatment plan to attain the best possible results.

Mr Woods has clinical interests in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, stomach disorders, complex anorectal pathology and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Rod graduated from the University of Melbourne and spent his clinical years St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, Clinical School and subsequently at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne for his residency and advanced surgical training. He then travelled to the US to further his colorectal training at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he held a junior staff position at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1988.

Rod is actively involved in training the next generation of colorectal surgeons, having trained many people through the RACS training program. He is a foundation member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and Director of Colorectal Surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital.
