Biography

Mr Stephen Tham is an orthopaedic surgeon consulting at St Vincent’s Private Hospitals. He specialises in the surgical treatment of debilitating trauma and degenerative related conditions of the hand and wrist.

Mr Tham specialises in microsurgery to treat hand and wrist issues such arthritis, tendonitis, sporting injuries, nerve compression syndromes and injuries.

Stephen graduated from Monash University and undertook specialised training in orthopaedic surgery. He was accepted for a fellowship at the Institute of Microsurgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne and then underwent a fellowship in hand surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He gained valuable international experience in the US with a hand fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and New York University Medical Center.

Stephen has research interests at the O’Brien Institute and collaborates with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Melbourne and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Monash University.
