Biography
Professor Richard Epstein is a medical oncologist with particular interests in breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer.
Professor Richard Epstein completed clinical training both nationally and internationally at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, Melbourne, the UK’s Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, and Harvard’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the USA. While at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute he patented a technique for creating antibodies that detect different activation states of cancer proteins.Richard’s work has spanned the globe. He has worked at Imperial College London’s Hammersmith Hospital, as Deputy Directory at the National Cancer Centre of Singapore, and The University of Hong Kong where he was the foundation Professor of Medical Oncology.
In 2009, he returned to Australia to take up the mission of building capability for research at St Vincent’s Hospital and at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre.
He is a visiting scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research where his research centres on the molecular evolution of human cancers, and holds an appointment as Conjoint Professor of the University of New South Wales’s Clinical School.
