Biography

Dr Thomas Sunderland is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who started out his career in Scotland where he completed his dental degree at the University of Glasgow and then his medical degree at the University of Aberdeen, graduating with honours in 1998.

Dr Sunderland went on to complete further general surgical training and completed his fellowship in general surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2000. Prior to this he had already completed the fellowship in dental surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in London.

Tom moved to Melbourne in 2000 and then completed more training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and attained the fellowship of the Royal Australasian Society of Dental Surgeons in 2003. Tom has held public appointments at Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital, The Austin Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital. Tom started in private practice in Collins street in 2003.

Tom attends international and national conferences regularly to keep in step with current practice in his specialty and he has made contributions as a speaker at several conferences at home and overseas.
