In this learning module, GPs will learn about Heart Failure with reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF) including
recognising symptoms and common presentations of HFrEF, the role of imaging, and treatment options. They will
also gain an understanding of Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) including diagnostic
challenges and management strategies for HFpEF.

  • Identify auscultatory findings suggestive of valvular heart disease and determine when to refer to

    echocardiography.

  • Identify the clinical presentation and diagnostic criteria for HFpEF (Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction).

  • Implement at least one evidence-based strategy for managing hypertension in primary care.

  • Explain the key differences in management between HFrEF (Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction) and HFpEF
