A new day only cancer treatment centre has opened at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney, complementing the high level of care, support and education provided as part of the hospital’s integrated approach to cancer care.

In a modern, comfortable and private environment, the new day treatment centre provides chemotherapy and other anti-cancer therapies as well as blood products in a 10 chair, 3 treatment room facility.

Patients with various types of cancer and other conditions can be treated, with the support of an experienced and dedicated multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and allied health staff specialising in cancer as well as administrative and support teams.

Housed within the John Symond Ambulatory Care Centre, the facility has been in operation since 2018, treating patients with autoimmune conditions, inflammatory bowel disease and multiple sclerosis. Now five years in, the centre has transitioned into cancer services.

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney has an established offering of treatment and therapies for various cancers including head and neck, neuro, urogenital, breast, colorectal, lung, upper gastrointestinal, haematology and more. The new day centre accompanies these existing oncology treatments in a significant way as private patients can now access chemotherapy within the private hospital, being previously referred to renowned partner facility on campus, The Kinghorn Cancer Centre.

The nature and level of care at the new centre stretches beyond chemotherapy. Patients of the centre each have a unique treatment team, which includes a Cancer Care Coordinator who provides ongoing support to the patient and their family from diagnosis, all stages of treatment and follow up care.

An experienced team of allied health professionals who specialise in cancer are also available to assist in the treatment and wellbeing of patients, a team which includes dietitians, speech pathologists and social workers. Patients can also access services such exercise physiology, acupuncture, massages and more at The Wellness Centre at The Kinghorn Cancer Centre.
