Nurses highest paid in the state
St Vincent's NSW Private Hospital nurses benefits
Following recent approval of a new Enterprise Agreement, nurses and midwives at St Vincent’s three private hospitals in NSW have become the highest paid in the state.
Tim Sinclair, St Vincent’s Chief Executive Officer, NSW Private Hospitals says the team is thrilled to be able to offer a raft of benefits to the hospitals’ largest working group.
“We value our nurses highly and we’re all thrilled that they are in this golden position of being the best paid in NSW,” Mr Sinclair said.
“Our hospitals undertake high volume, high end surgery that is the envy of any tertiary hospital. So not only do our nurses enjoy highly competitive salaries, but they have interesting careers as well.”

As a not-for-profit organisation, St Vincent’s staff also have access to salary packaging for living expenses such as rent and mortgage before tax is deducted, resulting in another income boost.
Matt Wall, General Manager/Director of Clinical Services at Sydney Private, is seeking experienced perioperative, cardiac and ward nurses.
“We are looking for nurses who want to grow their careers. We have many long time nurses at Sydney Private – once they come here, they tend to stay,” Mr Wall added.
Bronwyn Jenner, General Manager/Director of Clinical Services at Mater Hospital, North Sydney is welcoming nurses and midwives.
“Patient numbers at Mater Hospital Sydney are only increasing so we are looking for more specialist staff, particularly in maternity, ICU, perioperative and cardiology,” she said.
“Our nurses and midwives also have access to world class research funding and scholarships through The Friends of the Mater Foundation and the Curran Foundation.”
St Vincent’s NSW private hospitals are also celebrating high Net Promoter Scores (NPS), which indicate if patients would recommend the hospital. The latest NPS are 88 for Sydney Private, 86 for Mater Hospital and 87 for Griffith.
“The NPS scores show that our nurses take pride in caring for their patients,” Mr Wall said.
“That results in a great culture and feeds into our high employee retention rates.”
The new Enterprise Agreement benefits apply for nurses and midwives working at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney, Mater Hospital North Sydney and St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital Griffith.
Supporting flexibility, both hospitals have full time, part time and casual roles available.
