St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney & St Vincent's Private Community Hospital Griffith

22 February 2022: St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney and St Vincent's Private Community Hospital Griffith welcome new CEO, Heidi Bayliss.

We are delighted to announce that Ms Heidi Bayliss joins us this week as the new Chief Executive Officer of St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney and St Vincent's Private Community Hospital Griffith.

Heidi's appointment as CEO extends her impressive career in health spanning more than thirty years.

Heidi commenced her career as a Registered Nurse at Royal North Shore Hospital. She then moved to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she became a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a focus on Intensive Care Nursing. A new decade took Heidi to Ramsay Health Care where she continued to specialise in Intensive Care Nursing until moving into management roles, including Cardiac Services Manager, Bed Manager and Assistant Director of Clinical Services at North Shore Private Hospital. In 2013 Heidi moved into an Executive role at Castlecrag Private Hospital where she served as Director of Clinical Services/Hospital Manager and in 2016 was appointed Chief Executive Officer of both Castlecrag and Hunters Hill Private Hospitals.

Heidi has a Bachelor of Nursing, Masters of Nursing and has completed executive leadership courses with Ramsay Health Australia and McKinsey & Company. In 2020 Notre Dame University appointed Heidi as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Medicine. In 2021 Heidi completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course and is currently completing the Ministry Leadership Program at the Australian Catholic University.

In 2019 Heidi moved to St Vincent’s Health Australia as CEO of the Mater Hospital. Over the last three years Heidi has developed a positive culture amongst the staff and clinicians through her approachable leadership style and presence around the hospital.

During this time, she oversaw several improvements at the Hospital including the enhancement of Cancer Services with development of the Kay Van Norton Centre for Wellbeing and the advancement of Maternity Services with the commissioning of the Pagent Family Obstetric Operating Theatre and newly renovated Delivery Suites.

Heidi’s leadership at the Mater Hospital has seen consistently high Net Promoter Scores (NPS) and overall growth in surgery, specifically in orthopaedics and cancer surgery as well as continued growth in cardiology, neurosurgery and maternity services. Heidi’s dedication to the mission of St Vincent’s has ensured the Mater continues to serve vulnerable people through strengthening local programs such as Mary’s House, a refuge for women and children experiencing domestic abuse, as well as Cana Farm and the Mercy Foundation.

With Heidi’s extensive operational experience within the sector and her deep understanding of corporate functions and the importance of mission, we are thrilled to have her lead our organisation.

Better and fairer care. Always.

In a rapidly transforming world, St Vincent's has created a refreshed vision and strategy to help shape Australia's health and aged care future.
