Biography

Dr Gareth Owen is a colorectal surgeon with a particular interest colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis and rectal prolapse.

Dr Owen’s services include the surgical treatment of all diseases of the colon and rectum. He has developed a special interest in the management of complex abdominal wall hernia repair and reconstruction. He also has an interest in haemorrhoid treatments and all aspects of investigation and management of rectal bleeding. He performs complex abdominal wall hernias, including biological mesh reconstructions of the abdominal wall.

Dr Owen completed his general surgical training in NSW and then went through the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand Fellowship training program. He spent time in both Hong Kong and Korea furthering his training. He works closely with the St Vincent’s multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
