Biography

Dr Ash Jhamb has over two decades of expertise in the minimally invasive treatment of complex brain and spinal vascular disorders. He holds appointments at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, where he has served as Director of Neurointervention & Interventional Radiology and since 2012, and at Austin Health, where has practised as a Neurointerventionist since 2018. Together, these roles see him provide 24/7 coverage of neurovascular emergencies across both services.

Ash graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland in 1996 and completed his radiology training at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, before being admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2006. He undertook subspecialty training across three continents: a combined  Neurointervention and  Interventional Radiology fellowship at the Alfred Hospital, a Neurointerventional fellowship at Vancouver General Hospital in Canada, and a further Neuroradiology/neurointervention fellowship at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. He is registered with the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Interventional Neuroradiology (CCINR) and holds the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) certification, and completed the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) course at Oxford University in 2019.

Ash is actively involved in clinical research, specialist training and medical education, overseeing the IR and INR training program at St Vincent's and investing in the next generation of interventional specialists. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications spanning neurointervention, stroke care and interventional radiology, and has presented his work at national and international meetings across Australia, North America and Europe.

Ash's clinical and research interests lie in endovascular management of intracranial aneurysms and brain arteriovenous malformations, and hyperacute stroke treatment via endovascular clot retrieval and spinal and general intervention . He previously held public appointments at Royal Brisbane Hospital and St Andrews Private Hospital in Brisbane, and an academic appointment with the University of Melbourne.
His approach combines deep technical expertise with clear communication and compassionate care, ensuring every patient understands their diagnosis, treatment options and recovery.
