Biography

Dr Benedict Devereaux is a gastroenterologist with experience in therapeutic endoscopy and pancreatology.

After graduating with a medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1991, Benedict completed his advanced gastroenterology training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

In 1999 he travelled to the USA to undertake two further fellowships in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) at the Indiana University Medical Centre. While there he developed a keen interest in pancreatic cancer. He conducted and subsequently published a prospective study comparing multidetector computed tomography and EUS for the staging of pancreatic cancer.

Since returning to Australia in 2001, Ben has held senior positions at hospitals across Brisbane. He is involved in teaching trainees advanced endoscopy techniques, regularly presents at national and international expert meetings, and sits on the Board of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Better and fairer care. Always.

In a rapidly transforming world, St Vincent's has created a refreshed vision and strategy to help shape Australia's health and aged care future.
