Biography

Dr Britt Christensen is a gastroenterologist and endoscopist who is highly experienced in delivering compassionate patient care in her management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and all other gastroenterological complaints.

Dr Christensen has an interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She is also highly experienced in investigating and managing, iron deficiency, gastrointestinal bleeding, bowel cancer screening and coeliac disease.

Britt graduated Medicine with honours and has completed a Master’s in Public Health at Monash University, for which she was awarded a Medal of Academic Excellence. After completing her gastroenterology training in Melbourne, she spent 2 years undertaking advanced training in IBD at the prestigious University of Chicago, one of the largest and most prominent IBD centres in the world.

Britt has undertaken research toward a PhD looking at histological outcomes and novel therapies in IBD, has presented her research at numerous international conferences and been published widely. She is also involved in multiple drug and investigator-initiated trials and supervises several PhD, Masters and Honours students.

Dr Britt Christensen is also a world expert in intestinal ultrasound which can be used as a non-invasive tool to assess for bowel inflammation and IBD. She can see patients for their bowel condition, open access endoscopy and intestinal ultrasound.
