Dr McMahon is committed to helping patients manage diabetes and other endocrine problems. She provides a personalised evidence-based approach for patients with complex endocrine diseases and diabetes.

Dr McMahon’s areas of interests include osteoporosis and bone and calcium disorders, diabetes (type 1, type 2 and pregnancy-related), insulin resistance, including polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid disorders, metabolic syndrome and obesity.

Dr McMahon completed a Bachelor of Science and her medical degree at the University of Sydney. She commenced her medical career as a junior medical officer at St Vincent’s and then proceeded to specialist training in endocrinology at St Vincent’s and Concord Hospitals.

She regularly attends national and international meetings and has ongoing research at The Garvan Institute of Medical Research looking at the effect of bisphosphonate therapy on the human immune system, and the baseline predictors for disorders of glucose metabolism in individuals infected with the HIV virus.

She regularly attends national and international meetings and has published scientific papers in many international medical journals. She has also authored two chapters in endocrinology text books in cooperation with the US Endocrine Society.
