Biography

Dr Clement Wong is a specialist breast and endocrine surgeon.

He is a high volume endocrine surgeon and is regarded as one of the most experienced in Queensland at performing laparoscopic adrenalectomy, using the posterior approach. Each year Dr Wong performs more than 200 thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy operations. He also performs neck dissection for metastatic thyroid cancer.

As a specialist breast cancer surgeon, his other major interests are high risk breast cancer management and oncoplastic breast cancer surgery, including immediate implant reconstruction. Dr Wong graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Queensland in 1999 and went on to complete his general surgical training in various Queensland tertiary hospitals.

After becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009, he undertook further Breast and Endocrine surgical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and the Queensland Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia, from 2009 to 2011, gaining extensive experience in complex thyroid, minimally invasive parathyroid, and oncoplastic breast surgeries.

He is also fully qualified to perform ultrasound imaging and holds a Certificate in Clinical Performed Ultrasound (CCPU). In 2012, Dr Wong was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer for the Breast and Endocrine Unit at the RBWH. In 2019, he travelled to Germany to undertake further training in laparoscopic adrenalectomy posterior approach with Professor Martin Walz.

Dr Wong is currently the Director of the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Unit at RBWH and unit supervisor of the General Surgical, Breast and Endocrine fellowship programs. He is also a Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland.
