Biography
A/Prof Craig Haifer is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, with a particular interest in Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, the gut microbiome, faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), bowel cancer screening, irritable bowel syndrome and liver disorders.
A/Prof Haifer completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honours at Monash University in 2010 and undertook speciality training across multiple hospitals in Victoria before returning to Sydney to complete further fellowships in inflammatory bowel disease. He has recently completed a PhD through the University of Sydney assessing the role of FMT in gastrointestinal diseases.A/Prof Haifer consults and performs endoscopic procedures between the public and private sector in Sydney and is a regular visiting specialist in Wagga Wagga. In addition to his clinical work, A/Prof Haifer is an Associate Professor of medicine at UNSW and heavily involved in research and education examining the links between the gut microbiome and health and disease.
