Biography

Dr David Oehme is a Melbourne-based neurosurgeon who is highly qualified and skilled in the management and treatment of complex spine conditions and brain tumours. He employs minimally-invasive and keyhole techniques to help maximise neurological function, reduce complications and speed recovery time.

Dr Oehme specialises in the treatment of back pain, sciatica, stenosis, spinal fusion, cervical spine disorders and brain tumours. He uses new-generation minimally-invasive technology, including robot-assisted surgical techniques and advanced neuro-navigation to minimise tissue destruction and pain.

David graduated from Monash University in 2004 and his neurosurgical and spine surgery training was conducted with some of Australia’s most respected neurosurgeons at leading hospitals — The Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, Monash Medical Centre and The Alfred Hospital.

David then extended his training by completing a PhD at Monash University, researching degenerative spinal conditions and novel biotechnologies to treat disc degeneration. He is considered a world expert in the field.

David’s on-going research interests are in degenerative diseases of the spine and the use of stem cell and other novel biotechnologies to repair degenerate intervertebral discs.

Better and fairer care. Always.
