Biography

Dr Emma Ivens is a cardiologist with a particular clinical interest in stress, transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography.

Dr Ivens is a cardiologist with a particular clinical interest in stress, transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography.

After graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with honours in 1997, Emma went on to complete her specialist cardiology training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

Pursuing her interest in echocardiography, Emma undertook a post-graduate echocardiography fellowship at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, before travelling to Canada to carry out a further fellowship in advanced echocardiography at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Outside of her clinical practice, Emma is also actively involved in research and has published work on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and complex aortic pathologies, as well as pericardial and valvular heart disease. She also shares her extensive experience with the future generation of cardiologists and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.
