Biography
Dr Glen Guerra is a Colorectal & General Surgeon at St Vincent's Private Hospital Fitzroy.
Glen completed his General Surgical training and PhD in Melbourne before undertaking colorectal fellowships in Brisbane and overseas in Basingstoke and London at St Mark's hospital. During this time, he trained in complex and advanced colorectal surgery, including peritoneal malignancy and pelvic exenteration.
Glen has experience in treating conditions across the breadth of colorectal and general surgery. This includes haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, rectal bleeding, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, colonic polyps, rectal prolapse, faecal incontinence and simple and complex recurrent hernias. He has a particular interest in managing patients with colorectal, anal and complex abdominal cancer and ensuring they are well informed and guided during their treatment pathway, having been a cancer survivor himself. He also has a strong commitment to minimally invasive surgery, offering both laparoscopic and robotic procedures in addition to open operations for those patients with complex cancer. He also performs high resolution anoscopy for patients with a positive screening swab and ablation for those with established anal dysplasia . He is also involved in research, with his main focus being on anal, colorectal and appendiceal cancer, pseudomyxoma peritonei and peritoneal mesothelioma.
