Biography
Dr Julia Crawford is a fellowship-trained Robotic Head and Neck / ENT Surgeon with extensive experience in the management of complex head and neck conditions. She has a special interest in both benign and malignant head and neck cancer surgery, as well as surgical treatments for obstructive sleep apnoea.
Dr Crawford is the current Head of Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, across both the public and private hospitals. She is also the President of the Australia and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society, reflecting her leadership in advancing high-quality, multidisciplinary head and neck cancer care.Dr Crawford is a core member of the Head and Neck Cancer and Thyroid Cancer multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), working closely with oncology, endocrinology, radiology, pathology, nursing, and allied health colleagues to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care tailored to each patient.
She holds significant professional governance roles and is a member of the NSW Executive Board of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In addition, Dr Crawford serves as the Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery representative on the Board of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, contributing to surgical standards, training, and policy development at a national level.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Crawford is deeply committed to surgical education and workforce development. She is a Surgical Education and Training Supervisor for ENT registrars and is actively involved in training and mentoring the next generation of surgeons. She is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, where she contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
