Biography
Mr Krishna Bhagwats’ skills include expertise in general cardiac surgery, total arterial revascularization, minimally-invasive valve repair and valve replacement surgery. He is devoted to providing personalised care for all of his patients in order to achieve comfort and early recovery.
Mr Bhagwat graduated medical school from the University of Mumbai in 1996. He obtained his Master of General Surgery in 2000 from Mumbai and later obtained his full qualification in cardiothoracic surgery at University of Pune, India in 2003.Acquiring many years of experience as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon in India, he then pursued further training in Australia where he was awarded his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2016. Krishna’s training included Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital (paediatric), Alfred Hospital (heart & lung transplant) and Monash Hospital. He then went on to provide his specialised skills at the Dunedin Hospital New Zealand, Barwon Health, Geelong and Royal Hobart Hospital.
His areas of passion and specialty include minimally-invasive thoracic and cardiac surgery, including thoracic oncology via the uniportal approach. He has written multiple journal articles on heart and lung surgery. He is also an active member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, with an interest in surgical training. He is a college-appointed supervisor of surgical education and training in cardiothoracic surgery.
As a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, Mr Bhagwat remains clinically active in general adult cardiac and thoracic surgery in both public and private practice.
