Biography
Dr Ryan is a gastroenterologist specialising in hepatology, with a particular interest in fatty liver and viral hepatitis.
She completed her advanced training at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne before undertaking an MD investigating the relationship between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and features of the Metabolic Syndrome. She then joined the laboratory of Professor Gerald Reaven at Stanford University, CA, USA for 2 years.
Dr Ryan is now at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, and is involved in research into hepatic metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, with a focus on dietary interventions. She also consults privately in Fitzroy.
