Biography

Dr Matthew Rickard is a specialist in general medicine with a particular interest in perioperative medicine, neurology, non-malignant haematology, acute internal medicine, and palliative care.

Matthew received a Bachelor of Engineering in 1991, and worked as a biomedical engineer at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne before pursuing his interest in medical science. He completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in anatomy in 1994, and subsequently graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2000.

He undertook his specialist general medicine training primarily at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Gympie General Hospital, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2013. He was then employed as a staff consultant physician at the Prince Charles Hospital for several years, gaining experience in a broad range of treatment areas. He has since started his private general medicine practice.
