Biography

Dr Mei Tan is an ophthalmologist skilled in both medical and surgical ocular treatments and committed to helping people understand their condition and putting in place a treatment plan to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr Tan is trained in vitreo-retinal surgery and medical retina therapies. Her special interests include the treatment of retinal detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, macular and vitreous haemorrhage, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions and inherited eye diseases.

Mei graduated with honours in medicine and completed her ophthalmology training in the UK at the Oxford Eye Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital. She then undertook additional training in medical retina and vitreo-retinal surgery. She is fully trained in the diagnosis, management and surgical treatment of retinal diseases and has experience in uveitis and ocular oncology.

Mei also holds a PhD in genetics and gene therapy; and in her position as an experienced cataract surgeon. She is involved in the training of junior eye doctors.
