Biography

Dr Melissa Jessop is a Palliative Medicine Physician at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside.

Dr Jessop completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 1998.  She completed Physician Training specialising as a Paediatric and Adolescent/Young Adult Oncologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane in 2009.  In 2016, Dr Jessop undertook further subspecialty training in Palliative Medicine and commenced work as a Palliative Medicine Specialist at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane in 2018. 

Dr Jessop provides palliative care to patients within the Inpatient Palliative Care Unit, as well as in the community setting as part of the hospital’s Community Specialist Palliative Care Service. Dr Jessop is passionate about providing high quality palliative care to patients. Dr Jessop’s special interests include the impact of parental terminal illness on young adult children and terminal illness in young adult patients.
