Biography
Dr Michael Egerton is a general surgeon who’s spent almost four decades caring for the Toowoomba community.
Dr Egerton offers a wide range of general surgery procedures but has a particular interest in gastroscopy, colonoscopy, breast cancer surgery, colorectal and bowel cancer surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, and endocrine surgery.Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1979. He’s had a close connection with the community of Toowoomba from the outset of his career, from his experience as a medical student in 1978 to when he settled there in 1980 as a junior doctor. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1986.
He was the Director of Surgery at Toowoomba Base Hospital from 1986 to 1991, and was instrumental in introducing minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery to the region.
