Biography
Dr Symon McCallum is a pain specialist and anaesthetist with expertise in medical and interventional treatment of persistent pain, helping people with chronic pain get the most out of pharmaceutical, non-pharmacological and holistic pain management methods.
Dr McCallum prides himself on an excellent bedside manner, thorough clinical approach, technical expertise and maintaining communication with referring practitioners. Symon studied medicine at the University of Manchester in the UK. He undertook his specialist anaesthetics training at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, before completing advanced pain medicine training at one of Australia’s most well-regarded pain centres, The Professor Tess Cramond Multidisciplinary Pain Centre.Outside his clinical practice, Symon has a keen interest in teaching medical students and junior doctors in the most effective treatments for chronic pain management, and is currently undertaking research into spinal cord stimulation for pain management.
