Biography

Dr Arthur was awarded a Fellowship in General Surgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.

In 2020 and 2021, he completed the colorectal surgery training program run by the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery, with appointments at the Austin Hospital, Melbourne, and Gold Coast University Hospital. He is a specialist in colorectal surgery and a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand. 
 
Outside his clinical work, Dr Arthur has been active in medical advocacy and has held roles including National Trainee Representative for the Board in General Surgery, Councillor for the AMA Queensland Council, Chair of the AMA Queensland Council of Doctors in Training, Committee Member for the State Management Committee of ASMOFQ and General Surgery Representative to the RACS Trainees Association. Dr Arthur was awarded the AMAQ Presidents Award in 2017.
 
Dr Arthur has an interest in research, having been Co-ordinating Principal Investigator and Associate Investigator on several national and international studies. He is the founding chair of the Queensland Surgical Trainee (QUEST) Collaboration. He is a reviewer for the ANZ Journal of Surgery. He is the current Hospital Supervisor at Toowoomba Hospital for the General Surgical Education and Training programme for surgical trainees. 
 
Dr Arthur provides high quality colorectal and general surgical services, including the areas of; colon and rectal cancer, benign conditions of the colon including diverticulitis, faecal incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal wall hernias, and general surgical emergencies.
