Biography

Mr Francis Ma is a Melbourne-based orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in conditions affecting the hip and knees. He works in collaboration with patients and other health care professionals, pre- and post-surgery, to attain the best possible results.

Mr Ma is primarily interested in management of conditions affecting the hips and knees. He has particular skills in hip arthroscopy and minimally-invasive hip joint replacement surgery (full and partial), including mini anterior and mini posterior approaches. He routinely uses computer navigation to fine-tune his approach.

Francis graduated from the University of Melbourne and undertook his surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, followed by international training in Scotland and London which gave him invaluable experience in hip resurfacing, revision hip and knee replacements (total and partial) and soft tissue/knee ligament reconstruction.

Francis regularly engages in the teaching and mentoring of orthopaedic trainees and medical students.
