Biography

Mr Mark McCombe is a Melbourne-based ophthalmologist with considerable experience and expertise in helping people with retinal disorders achieve the best possible outcomes.

Mr McCombe studied medicine at the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital. He obtained his post-graduate qualification in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. After completing specialist training, he undertook fellowships in diseases and surgery of the retina at in London. He has a special interest in diabetic eye disease, eye trauma, age related macular degeneration and vitreoretinal surgery.

Mark is co-author of a NHMRC publication on diabetic eye disease. He has been active in the affairs of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, having been both a state and federal councillor and has been involved in the organisation of the their national conferences.

He has an interest in medico-legal work pertaining to ophthalmology and has undertaken the Australian Medical Association guidelines course for assessment of impairment.
