Biography

Professor Omgo Nieweg is a surgical oncologist who helps people with skin cancer, including melanoma.

Professor Nieweg received his MD (1976) and PhD (1983) degrees at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He specialised in nuclear medicine and surgery. He trained in surgical oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas in 1990-1991.

He was a staff member who specialised in melanoma at The Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam from 1992 to 2013. Subsequently, he joined the Melanoma Institute Australia.

He has an appointment at the University of Sydney. He contributes to national and international studies on various aspects of diagnosis, imaging, staging and surgical treatment of melanoma.
