Professor Reginald Lord is an upper gastrointestinal and general surgeon who treats Barrett’s oesophagus, gastro-oesophageal reflux and oesophageal cancer. He also performs weight loss surgery.

Prof Reginald Lord was the first surgeon to use endoscopic radiofrequency ablation therapy for Barrett’s oesophagus in Australia, and was a pioneer of Bravo wireless probe testing for gastro-oesophageal reflux. He was also the first surgeon to perform robotic general surgery in Australia.

Reginald received his medical degree from the University of Sydney, a postgraduate research degree from the University of New South Wales, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

He trained in general surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. Following this he spent more than 5 years at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, where he was a part of the renowned Foregut Surgery Department, at that time considered the world’s leading oesophageal surgery unit. During his time there he was a member of the team that first performed the gastric sleeve operation for weight loss.

Better and fairer care. Always.

In a rapidly transforming world, St Vincent's has created a refreshed vision and strategy to help shape Australia's health and aged care future.
