In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, St Vincent’s Private Hospital Griffith has safeguards and precautions in place in line with advice from the Australian and State Government Department of Health.
We are closely monitoring, and proactively responding to the developments in Australia associated with novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in conjunction with both the Australian Government authorities and local public health units.

Information for patients
Before coming to hospital
Please contact your treating specialist via phone or email before coming to hospital, if:
- You have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or asked to quarantine
- You have returned from overseas in the last 14 days (excluding safe travel zone countries)
- You have had contact with a person with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
- You have visited a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days or since the hotspot was declared (whichever is shorter)
- You have been tested for COVID-19 and are waiting to receive the results (except for tests due to surveillance testing obligations)
- You have COVID-19 symptoms of fever (37.5 degrees or more), cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, runny nose, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting or fatigue

Hospital Visitation Rules
- Please check with the hospital for current and updated requirements for visitors or to discuss any visitor restriction issues. We are requesting that no more than two visitors at any one time visit patients at the hospital, this is to enable social distancing within patient areas.
You cannot visit the hospital, if:
- You are unwell
- You have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or asked to quarantine
- You have returned from overseas in the last 14 days (excluding safe travel zone countries)
- You have had contact with a person with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
- You have visited a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days or since the hotspot was declared (whichever is shorter)
- You have been tested for COVID-19 and are waiting to receive the results (except for tests due to surveillance testing obligations)
- You have COVID-19 symptoms of fever (37.5 degrees or more), cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, runny nose, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting or fatigue
When you arrive
We recommend you arrive earlier than planned to allow time for the visitor screening process. The visitor screening process has three steps to it.
- Prior to entry, all visitors are required to complete an online form. This form asks a series of screening questions. You may access the online form here or scan the QR code using your mobile device when you arrive at the hospital entrance. We recommend you complete the form prior to arrival to aid the visitor screening process.
- After completing the form, present to St Vincent’s Staff at the welcome desk.
- Listen carefully to St Vincent’s Staff and follow their directions. You will undergo a temperature check via a thermal camera prior to entry.
Social Distancing
When you enter the hospital, you will need to continue to exercise social distancing by keeping 1.5m from others and clean your hands regularly using soap and water or the alcohol-based hand rub provided.

Yes. Everyone must practise social distancing outside of direct patient care. This means keeping 1.5m from others at all times unless you are a health professional providing direct patient care.
You are strongly encouraged to continue to carry a face mask with you at all times, to provide added protection if you are in a situation where you cannot maintain social distancing.
The NSW Government has updated the rules around visiting hospitals. If you don’t comply, you may receive a maximum penalty of imprisonment for 6 months and/or a penalty of up to $11,000.
No. Visitors are only allowed during the designated visitor hours.

Yes. A person under the age of 16 may visit a hospital patient, but that person will need to meet all the other requirements for visitors.
Yes. A patient may enter the hospital for medical appointments. This includes doctor, X-Ray and clinic appointments.

No. You will need to wait until you have a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom free to visit a patient in hospital.
