Biography
Dr Abdul Shaik is a Consultant Neurologist with extensive experience gained through advanced neurology training and clinical practice.
He has trained and practiced across major tertiary and regional hospitals in Queensland, including Princess Alexandra Hospital, Townsville University Hospital, Redland Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, and Toowoomba Hospital. He completed his Fellowship in Neurology through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).Dr Shaik provides comprehensive assessment and management of a broad range of neurological conditions, with clinical interests in stroke and transient ischaemic attacks (TIA), migraine and complex headache disorders, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology disorders, myasthenia gravis, neuromuscular disorders, and neurophysiology. He has extensive expertise in hyperacute and subacute stroke care, thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy pathways, EEG, nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), and botulinum toxin therapy.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Shaik is actively involved in neurological research, medical education, and quality improvement initiatives. He has presented at national ANZAN scientific meetings and contributed to publications and projects relating to stroke neurology and regional thrombectomy services. Dr Shaik is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred neurological care with a collaborative and holistic approach to patient management.
